BOYLE, ALBERTA is located 160 km north of Edmonton on Highway 63 at a terrain ‘pinchpoint’ (lakes & hills!) where, in a 10km wide swath, the main highway to Ft McMurray, the CN Railway to Ft McMurray, and 4 pipelines all come together...(more pipelines are planned and Hwy 63 will soon be twinned by the province).
Boyle is at the southern end of a 100 km stretch of Hwy 63 that we call the ‘ALBERTA ENERGY CORRIDOR’ (AEC) (Newsletter). This is strategically situated 100 km north of the ‘Industrial Heartland’ between Redwater and Ft Saskatchewan; 200 km south of Ft McMurray, 150 km west of Cold Lake, and 150 km SE of Wabasca.
We are experiencing a high volume of development interest in housing, light to mid industry, transportation, commercial and government services.
As of August 11, 2008 Boyle and the County of Athabasca were approved by the Rural Development Iniatives program to receive a grant to market and plan the AEC thus increasing the development interest in Boyle. As well as Boyle and the County, 6 area businesses participated in getting this grant.
